Please see my earlier follow up to the Gollan/Fletcher family links.

The Nairn 1841 census shows James Gollan, 20 , although I think this should have read 25, as head of the household, with John Gollan, aged 10, and Janet Gollan, I believe, James' mother, aged 40.....did she lie about her age! No elder John Gollan at this address at the time of this census.

My puzzle is that I cannot find OPR christening for your ancestor John being the son of Janet Fletcher and John Gollan. Could John have been son of another Gollan brought up by Janet and John or do you have other info I am missing?

I'll be pleased to share the bigger Gollan picture with you as it develops, but right now it is still very hazy.
