Hi Catherine,

My great grandfather was William Campbell Gollan (b:1873 Falkirk, Stirling Scotland), son of William Campbell Gollan (b:1847 Falkirk, Stirling Scotland), son of Robert Campbell Gollan (b: 1825 Falkirk, Stirling Scotland) and we think son of William Gollan, son of Alexander Gollan but no dob or location at this stage. William & Alexander seem to be common names in the GOLLAN family though.

Anyhow I was just zipping around on google maps tonight searching for Falkirk as it turns out and recalled seeing Linlithgow at some stage. Just gone back and sure enough Falkirk and Linlithgow are only 20 km's apart.

Ironically my wife (soon to be ex-wife) is from NZ and has a great grandmother with the surname GOLLAN. Her father used to tease us about being related so perhaps there is a link there somewhere.

There are a lot of Gollan's in Australia related to an Alexander Gollan who emigrated in the mid-1800's or thereabouts, but they seem to link straight back to Inverness.
