You said that your grandmother's name "is" - in the present tense. Your first step is to interogate all the older members of your family about names, dates, and places. Do it before it is too late.
I'm 62 now, but when I was about 15 that is what I did, and I am so glad. The information I was able to gather about my branch of the Gonellas would be almost impossible to dig up today.
Also, wherever you may live there is probably a Mormon church nearby. They sponsor "Family History Centers" that can give you a lot of help and tips on where to go. Don't worry, you needn't be a Mormon. They are glad to help.
