The family moved from Pennsylvania to St. Louis in late 1820s. Mr. Gunsollis died before 1850.

James married Julia Burger. James and Julia had three children: James, Pauline and Ollie. James was a well known river boat captain. He was killed on 22 May 1891 when his ship "Vice-President" struck a a ferry cable destroying the pilot house.
Susan married peter Vandervort on 19 Dec 1850. Susan and Peter had six children: Charles, John, Ella, Naomi, Jesse and Maggie.
I believe that Mr. Gunsollis may be the son of Samuel Gunsollis of Allegheny County, PA. I have no proof and the link is very tenuous. Samuel was one of six sons of Jacobus and Sarah (Westbrook) Gonsalus of Mifflin County. Each of the sons spelled their surname differently at times (Gonsalus, Gunsalus, Gunsaulis,Gonzales). Samuel was using Gunsollis when he appealed to the State of Pennsylvania for financial relief . He and his brothers all served in the Pennsylvania Militia during the American Revolution.
If anyone recognizes this family I would like to communicate with them.
