Hi! I am descended from Maria Gonsalus, who is said to be the granddaughter of Emmanuel Gonsalus-duk. I would appreciate any sources and additional information on Emmanuel. May I ask you where you found your information?
Also about Peter Gonzolley, do you know whether or not he remained a Mormon after Joseph Smith's death? If he did, he most likely emigrated to Utah. The Mormons began leaving Nauvoo for Utah in 1847 and this emigration contiued over the period of the next several decades.
Regardless, of whether he retained his membership or not, the best place to look for early members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) would be with the LDS Church itself. It has many records, both LDS and otherwise, that have been carefully preserved. Check the Family History website (www.familysearch.org) or contact an LDS family history center (the volunteers there can help you locate records). On the website, look at the downloadable research guides and helps. I know that they have published several guides that will be useful, including "Early Church Information File" and "Tracing LDS Families".
I have a book entitled "Kirtland Heritage", listing early Mormons during the time when this Church was based mainly in Kirtland, Ohio (1831-1845). It was printed in 1984 by the Kirtland Branch Genealogical Library (their address is listed as P.O. Box 941, Mentor, Ohio44061-0941, phone (216) 256-8808). A Peter Consolley is listed as a Church member on page 21 but no other information is given. This library may have more information on him.
I hope this helps you out!
Sincerely,
Michelle Boyd
