Peter Gonsalus and Abigail Faunce
Peter whose surname I have found spelled many ways and which might impede research was spelled Gonzolley in our family Bible in 1826. I have found that Peter has evaded my work in many ways. I believe his parents to have been Benjamin Consauley born Jan,1763 and Elizabeth Kuykendal both of Orange County, New York. The Consauley family were Spanish and Protestant and originally were Gonzalez. Elizabeth was of Dutch background.
I have followed Peter through censuses and family records and after he became a follower of Joseph Smith in 1836 in Ohio, I seem tolose track of him. I do not know if he and his wife Abigail died or if he remarried and there are some interesting leads that he may have had several wivesnot at one time as was an old Mormon custom ,but each wife suceeded the former. He may have married Margaret Davis in Liberty, Missouri in 1849 and then Mary Jane Stevens in Liberty, Missouri 1852 and finally Susannah Jones in LaClede ,Missouri. Peter apparently lived a long life from 1799 through 1886 dying in Breckenridge, Texas. Much of this message is conjecture and fits fairly well, but may be inaccurate on many counts.
