Family History Book of Robert Good

I’ve just published a new book, "Robert Good and His Descendants, Revised Edition," that chronicles the family history of Robert Good who d. 1799 in Union County, SC and married Elizabeth Bankhead. She moved to Rutherford County, TN after Robert’s death and died there in 1834. There is compelling evidence that the ultimate country of origin of this family is Scotland and there is also evidence that the family lived in Ireland before moving to this country.

This nine-generation family history is comprised of some 2,464 of Robert Good’s descendants, their spouses and parents of spouses as well as 28 individuals with the major variant surname of “Goode.” In a self-contained appendix with its own index there are an additional 797 descendants and spouses of John Good of York County, SC a brother of Robert Good.

In addition to “Good” and the variant “Goode,” other surnames mentioned 10 or more times include:

Arnold              Bailey              Banks              Berryman       Bowman       Brown
Caffey              Campbell       Connolly       Elkins              Haley              Hall
Harrell        Harris              Hoffpauir       Hollandsworth              Jones
Kent               Mathis              Moore              Pennington                     Phillips
Potter              Rigsby              Robinson       Smith               Smithson
Sparkman        Todd              Walker       Wilson              Wright

This 512-page, hard cover book containing 47 photographs is a result of 40 years of research. Over 400 citations of primary and secondary sources are given and a 39-page bibliography subdivided by location is included.

The original edition of this book won the Anna Ford Award of Excellence presented by the Heart of America Genealogical Society of Kansas City, Missouri in 2001.
