i have recently had someone get in touch with me that the mackerness goode, who left a will there in edgefield co, sc in 1793/ 1795 was not the son of my/ our mackerness goode, sr, father also of my/ our frances goode harris, wife of my/ our william harris, sr of lunenburg/ charlotte/ mecklenburg cos, va-------but, instead, was the mackerness goode, son of phillip goode, brother of my mackerness goode, sr.

since this is not just important and relevant for my/ our specific goode line and family, but also to others of you, i am going to post the proof here that, again, the mackerness goode, who left a will there in 1793/ 1795 there in edgefield co, sc, was the son of our mackerness goode, sr and who was also the father of our frances goode harris.

it is also our mackerness goode, sr, brother of phillip goode, etc, who was the son of our samuel goode/ martha jones of henrico co, va.

per this 1793 laurens co, sc deed wherein our mackerness goode, jr sold this land on the beaverdam creek of the little river and, which is also, again, by the way, where our mackerness goode, sr and jr had obtained their original ca 1770 laurens co, sc grants, to our related patrick and ann harris cunningham-------

part of this land had been sold to our mackerness goode, jr by reeves martin, son of william martin, who, per the info, was married to frances goode, daughter of our mackerness goode, jr and who was the same frances goode martin edwards, daughter of the mackerness goode, who left a will there in 1793/ 1795 in edgefield co, sc.

here is info from this genforum site------showing that the same william martin's wife, and mother of reeves martin, was the same frances goode martin, who had re-married a mr. edwards and, therefore, was the same frances goode martin edwards, daughter of the mackerness goode, who died and/ or left a will there in 1793/ 1795 there in edgefield co, sc.

here again, is the also the 1793 laurens/ edgefield co, sc deed showing that part of the land our mackerness goode, jr sold our related patrick and ann harris cunningham, daughter also of our william harris, sr/ frances goode, had been sold to him by reeves martin, oldest son of william martin/ frances goode, who, again, per the following info had re-married a mr. edwards and who, then, again, was the same frances edwards, daughter of the mackerness goode who left a will there in 1793/ 1795 in edgefield co, sc------

laurens co, sc deed book E, page 76, 1793, mackerness goode, planter, of edgefield co, sc to patrick cunningham, planter, in laurens, for 400 pds sterling, 900 acres on the beaverdam creek of little river in laurens co, sc: 1) 200 acre grant by bull 4/ 12/ 1771; 2) 200 acre grant to william martin, decd, 4/ 29/ 1768 by montague conveyed by reeves martin, oldest son and heir of william martin, decd; 3) 100 acre original grant to william mc laughlin by montague 10/ 13/ 1767, conveyed; 4) 150 acre original grant to samuel caldwell by montague, conveyed by john caldwell, oldest brother and heir of samuel caldwell, decd; 5) 250 acres bordered on christopher rowland; john osborne; john walker; original grant to moses yarbrough by bull 7/15/1768, conveyed. witnesses: james burnside, jr; john bowman; john dunklin. angus campbell, j.p.

as an aside, this james burnside, jr, who witnessed this laurens co, sc deed re our mackerness goode, jr, son of our mackerness goode, sr, to our patrick cunningham/ ann harris, was the son of james burnside, sr, son-in-law of our andrew rodgers, sr/ jane, who died in 1755 in lunenburg co, va and who was also the father of our john rodgers, sr/ margaret mc nees, who were the parents of our frances rodgers harris, wife of our william harris, jr, who died in 1799 in laurens co, sc, son of our william harris, sr/ frances goode, again, daughter also of our mackerness goode, sr.

it is this info here, per these records and these connections, which totally proves that this mackerness goode, who died and/ or left a will there in 1793/ 1795 there in edgefield co, sc was the mackerness goode, jr, son of our mackerness goode, sr and brother of my/ our frances goode harris, wife of our william harris, sr----------and not the mackerness goode, who was the son of phillip goode.

this info here re reeves martin and his parents, our related william martin/ frances goode martin edwards, daughter of the mackerness goode, who died there in 1793/ 1795 in edgefield co, sc was posted by gwen downey on the edgefield co, sc forum # 1256.

here is the 1793/ 1795 edgefield co, sc will of the mackerness goode naming frances goode martin edwards as his daughter and also showing, of course, that this mackerness goode had several bonds with our related patrick cunningham/ ann harris, sister of our william harris, jr/ frances rodgers, children of our william harris, sr/ frances goode, daughter also of our mackerness goode, sr and sister of our mackerness goode, jr.

it is this info here, again, per these records of laurens/ edgefield cos, sc and, again, also back to this lunenburg/ charlotte cos, va area, and all of these connections re my/ our specific harris and goode families, which totally proves that this mackerness goode, who died and/ or left a will there in 1793/ 1795 there in edgefield co, sc, was the mackerness goode, jr, son of our mackerness goode, sr and brother of my/ our frances goode harris, wife of my/ our william harris, sr----------and not the mackerness goode, who was the son of phillip goode.
