Postscript to my query last night: I have been wondering why another alleged son, Bennett Ballow, did not appear in Susannah's 1755 will as well. I just got my answer: he died circa 1753/54 in Albemarle County, VA. Charles Ballow, Joseph Ballow (Bennett's brothers?) and John Ryan signed Bennett's estate inventory in 14 May 1754. (Source: Gwen Edmonds excellent Ballews site, http://www.myplanet.net/gedmnds1/ballewva.htm.)
Bennett, Robert, Charles, John and Ann Ballow all patented land tracts in the same immediate area on the south side of the Fluvanna River in Albemarle County on 12 Jul 1750. (Source: "Virginia Land Patent Book 29" Magazine of Virginia Genealogy, Vol 30, No. 3.) Susannah and Leonard had documented children named Robert, Charles, John and Ann.
At this point, I'm beginning to feel as if Susannah Ballow really was daughter of John Goode and Ann Bennett, but need more proof if possible. I would love to hear from any descendant of John Goode of Whitby with any thoughts, theories, and/or feedback. Many thanks, and good researching to everyone!
