Dear Goode Researchers, I am looking for a notice of death and/or grave site for my grandfather, Milton James Goode, who lived in Leoma, Lawrence Co. TN from shortly after the 1900 Census until his death about 1920. If you are interested, my story is told on the Grandchildren’s page of that marvelous Chenoweth Website. J. W. McClain, of Kenton Co. Kentucky, was husband of Milton’s youngest sister, Mary Jane Goode agreed to take possession of the land, in exchange for providing for Milton until his death, Tis was the same agreement as previous owner, N. N. Reynolds, before he left for Texas. After this time Milton was boarding with a young family, Earnest J. M. Cox , his wife and a 1 yr old. That was also temporary, for the Cox family moved away. As a teenager, Allen Goode, brought cash from J. W. McClain to pay taxes on his land and Milton paid taxes on the 20 acres held for his child’s benefit , George C Goode United States Census, 1920 birth: 1875 —Kentucky residence: 1920 —, Kenton, Kentucky spouse: Hattie P Goode children: Alan W Goode, Godfrey P Goode Allen Goode U.S. Social Security Death Index Age at death (64) ? birth: 12 June 1879 (1896) death: August 1962 —Kentucky Milton’s oldest sister, Anne Elizabeth Goode Gons, was in Kentucky in 1905 when she died, and her body was transferred to Warren Co.
