Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
I am seeking a next of kin for Col. Edmund James Goode, who was born in Virginia, lived in Lawrence County, Mississippi in the 1850s and 1860s; commanded the 7th Mississippi Infantry during the Civil War, moved to Des Moines, Iowa in 1868 and lived there until about 1896, and died in Brooklyn, NY June 21, 1901. He had sons, Lowry, Clarence and Frederick and a daughter. The Iowa Sons of Union Veterans and the Mississippi Division Sons of Confederate Veterans are working together to place a U.S. Veterans Administration grave marker at Oakland Cemetery in Des Moines for Mr. Goode. We would love for a descendant to attend the grave marker dedication ceremony. Please contact Wilson Farnham; firstname.lastname@example.org if you have information.
