Re: Timothy Hawkins Goode's Father

Can I ask how it is known that John Goode (will in Lincoln County, KY dated 1800 - my gggg grandfather) is cousin to Richard Goode? Is the Richard Goode mentioned the son of Thomas Goode who died in Surry County, NC and Mary Reynolds?

There are quite a few researchers who insist that my John (father of Timothy and Ellender) was the husband of Janie Hawkins. I have never been convinced or even considered it since that John was in a different KY county and died after 1800; plus, had lived in Rutherford County, NC and not Surry/Stokes. My Timothy is not Timothy Hawkins Goode - of that I am sure.

That said, I had thought - although had no proof - that my John was the son of Thomas Goode of Surry County, NC. John's will dated 1800 stated his father was already deceased and that his wife was Jenny. Do you know who my John's father was if he was cousin to Richard Goode?

John has been my road block for over 15 years now.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide to my John and his relationship to Thomas' family.

Did any of your Cooleys go to Texas with my Goode ancestors? Timothy's son, Hiram, left KY in the 1860s and settled in the Dallas County area of Texas.
