Hi newly found cousin:
I am Carolyn Sue Ralston Reid. Thomas Jefferson and Rachel (Hilton) Goodrum are my great great grandparents.
Yes T.J. as he was referred to by my family was born 1842. However, place of birth may be confusing as on several census records he says he was born in NC, VA or TN. I tend to believe he was born in TN which was at one time North Carolina. His parents are Thomas and Martha Goodrum and they are buried in Rose Hill Cemetry in Maury Co TN. Rachel was born in VA. T.J. and Rachel are buried in the Campbellsburg Cemetry in Henry Co. KY. Rachel's brother, Andrew Hilton is buried beside them. Andrew never married and owned a photography shop in Owen Co. He was of average height and was heavy. He had a bear and a nice head of air. I have pictures of a few of the Goodrums. Lucinda (Lue) married Warren Sutherland Feb. 5, 1895. Their daughter Bertie Mae (Sutherland) Prather, born Oct 22, 1900, is my grandmother, her daughter, Ida Mae (Red) Prather Rice is my mother.
Georgia Sutherland is a very nice lady. Her husband is my grandmother's cousin. Georgia lives in Providence, KY.
I have an 8X10 picture of Warren and his family that was taken by Andrew Hilton. Maybe we can get copies of our pictues. I would love to have a copy of the 2x2 that you have of T.J. and Rachel.
I do not have all my info in front of me at this time. But if you are interested, I am happy to share any information that I have.
Happy Hunting
Cousin Sue
