Thomas's 3 sons Charles,John, and James fought in Revolutionary War in the Ninth Virginia Regiment; They were members of Morgan's Rifleman, a famous corps of sharpshooters.
Somtime before the War, young John married Mary Jefferson, sister of Thomas Jefferson; They had 3 children: John, Bennet and Mary.
