Hello Karen..my best info is from Isaac G. to present: Isaac Goolsby b=1771 Vir. d=1850's (wife=Elizabeth) one of their children was John Merle Goolsby b=11-1822 St. Clair Co., Ala. d=after 1886 Tippah Co., Miss. (wife=Eliza) their children were: James, Henry, Thomas, Mary, William, John Merle (Jr.), Fannie, Delia; plus child by 2nd wife V.M. Wms.=Liza.
John Merle (Jr.) married Mattie Crump (she from the famous Memphis politicial family); Their children were: Walter, Lawerance, Carl, Lessie, Lelia, and (my Gr-Father) John Earl Goolsby.
John Earl b=1894 d=1948 (wife=Vallie Elder) had one child: James Earl Goolsby b=1917 d=1975 J. E. Goolsby was my father.
The earlier Goolsby's had such large families and they moved around a lot; A tributary on the James River in Virginia was named Goolsby's creek..check on this; Also I point out we were in Ala. as there are 65 Goolsby's in the current Birmingham, Ala. phone book.
More later.

James Goolsby
