Richard Boykin Goldsby was born about 1765 in Albemarle Co., Virginia. Son of Peter Richard Goldsby. Richard was in Revolutionary War, 9th Continental Line. Received bounty land for his service in Oglethorpe Co., Georgia. Migrated to Goosepond District, Georgia in 1784, along with Colonel Matthews from Albemarle Co., Va. He married Zilla Thornton, dau. of Herod Thorton and Pherebe. In 1830's he migrated to Shelby Co., Tennessee. He died there in 1840. His will is recorded there. He is listed in DAR Records for Toni Lynne Collins Cunningham. He is also a signee on the Declaration of Independence of Albemarle Co., Va., along with Thomas Jefferson and Edmund Randolph. My husband, Clyde Thomas Goldsby, is descended from Richard's son, Miles Walton Goldsby, who left Shelby Co., Tenn. and migrated to Union Parish, Louisiana about 1850.
