Desgroseillers, Clinton County, NY
Hello, I would like to inaugurate this Forum by saying that my cousin Jackie (Gooseberry)Alto
([email protected])and I have been trying for the last couple of years to follow our ancestory. It has led us to
John/Joseph Gooseberry (Jean Baptiste Desgroseillers) who married Emma/Emily Andrews/Andre. They
resided in Clinton County, New York.
Their children;
George b.1842
Joseph b. 1846 Our great-grandfather
Charles b. February 15,1849
Loiuse b. 1850
Esther b. 1852
John b. 1859
Rose/Rosalie b. November 26,1861
Then Emma/Emily must have died because John/Joseph married September 7,1862 to Lucretia/Leocadie
Achim at St. peters of Plattsburg wit: A. Brisset and Frs Achim.
Their Children;
Alexander b. 1868
Ellard b. 1871
George b. 1873
Mara L. b. 1878
The only one of these children we have found much on is Charles and that is from Civil War records that we
ordered
from the archives.
Rose/Rosalie is listed like this Desgroseiller(dit) Rosalie to Desgroseiller, Prosper and Andre Emilie born
November 26,1861, bapt 22 January 1862
Godparents: Jacques Sorel and Esther Trudeau
So we know we are on the right track of Gooseberry being Desgroseilliers. We received a family tree from
Ernest
Desgroseilliers and he has listed the children of Joseph-Prosper Desgroseilliers and Charlotte
Lunegand-Beaurosier as;
1.Ambroise b. 1774-75
2.Joseph married Catherine Bisiallon October 20,1817 Laprarie, Quebec
3.Francois b. abt.1772 d. 1828
4.Charlotte-Francoise b. January 1773 Chateuguay Quebec
5.John Baptiste b. 1774-75 Chateuguay
He lists spouses and children for Ambroise, Francois and Jean-Baptiste but nothing for Joseph married to
Catherine. We beleive that we are on the right track, but need to find the parents of Jean Baptiste
Desgroseillers (John Gooseberry). Could they be Joseph and Catherine?
We have information that we would like to share.
