Melva Goosman, I'm still learning too. Is Ostgfriesen a city/town in Germany. What is the signifigance of the name?
As I look at Katie Gooseman and Woodville Hagey's marriage license of 7 Dec 1882, I notice that her name is spelled "Gooseman". She is 22 years old and was born in Nashville, TN and living there at the time. Her father was one of the witnesses and signed as "Mr Goosman" residing in Nashville, TN. The other witness is her sister, Mrs Julia Spangenberg, Nashville, TN, my great grandmother. The name on her tombstone is Mrs Kate Winbourne, buried 10/25/1913 in Mt Olivet Cemetery, Nashville, TN.
There name may well have been "Goosman" and got changed by others when filling out forms. Larry Spangenberg Sr
