Karen, I have a few pictures, but I really don't know exactly who they are. There are lots of Newton and Jasper Gorden/Gordons from Missouri to Mississippi. For a long time I had difficulty being sure which branch I was researching.

The family that I am researching lived in Polk Co. and Benton Co, Missouri. The parents were James Whaland Gorden and Elizabeth Benton. Their children were Charles; Emma Eliza, b. ca 1850; James Newton, born 2-6-1853; Mary Emma, b. ca 1855; Samuel W., b. 2-12-1857;Montgomery W., b ca 1859; Benjamin S, b ca 1863; Elmore, b 3-22-1866; Rachel, b 1869; Elizabeth, b. 1871; Elbridge, b. 1875.

There are grandchildren names Jasper and Newton, but none fit with your birth date of 1854. If yours are from the same area of Missouri, they are probably cousins.

Would like to share iformation, Jeanette
