I also have been at a dead end for my Gordon ancestry. I came up with Jacob B. Gordon (Gorden) from Stroudsburg, PA born 1806. Late research has shown his father to be William Gorden (Gerden) and he had brothers and a sister (Rachel) but I am lacking documentation to prove any of it. Possibly your John is a brother to my Jacob?
