Greetings cousins, (Hi Neal)
The German town of Friedrichtal near Karlsruhe was founded by Jacques de Gorenflo in 1699.He lead a band of hugenotrefugees from Gorenflos France. They fled France when the Edict of Nantes was revoked and wandered northern Europe for about a decade seeking refuge.Gorenflos is a small town near Amiens. As far as I know there are no Gorenflos left there.
Friedrichtal has a fantastic town museum that owes its existence to two wonderful, gracious people, Gustav Gorenflo and his late wife, Margaret. It is practically a Gorenflo family museum, with information about Gorenflo Templar knights going back to the 1200's.Gustav, a very accomplished geneologist, also wrote a chapter in the Friedrichtal town history about the Gorenflo family, and parts of it were translated into English and self-published along with other info by Constance Fraze.
I agree with Karalee that the U. S. Gorenflos are probably all related. Baden probably refers to the same area as Friedrichtal.
Our Biloxi,MS, branch began with Jacob Gorenflo who came from Friedrichtal in the first half of the 19th century.
-enjoyed reading your info. I apologize for any mis-pellings -- my notes are out of reach just now.
