Edward,
Thanks for all the great information.I had seen your question before an internet search that turned up the page with the crest and the info on the family in Barbados.Other than that, I know next to nothing on Goslings--sounds like you're way ahead of me.
There are indeed Goslings in my family--My grandmother was Dorothy Louise Gosling, born to Howard Gosling in Sacramento, CA in the 1890's.Howard was the first generation to be born in Ca in the 1870's.His Dad, John Gosling, was originally born in England (don't know where), and immigrated to Michigan (presumably with family) when he was two in the 1830's.Around 1851, I gather that a group of Goslings headed west (gold rushing, no doubt) and wound up setting up a dairy farm just north of Sacramento.Joseph Gosling was the head of the dairy ranch, but I don't know what specific relation he might be to my direct ascendents.
These are all on my Dad's side and there's no one left to tell family stories, so it's all filling in the blanks now.If you have any information about Goslings in Michigan and California, that would be great. If I hear anything more about the Barbados group, I'll be sure to pass that on.
Happy hunting!
Beth
