Thank you for the clarification and sharing your knowledge of Gosnold history. I had copied the information out of our family history, which was itself copied from another book. In fact, it is stated in so many other books that Martha's Vineyard was named for Bartholomew Gosnold's DAUGHTER Martha rather than his sister. It's good to have the correct information. You might also wish to contact the Otley Hall official website, which also contains the incorrect information:
