Andy, A more detailed follow up to your reply and also a question. We have a marriage certificate copy, Parish of St Dunstan in the West, City of London, William Gosnold and Rachel Green married 'in this Church by Banns' 18 May 1818. Witnesses Amelia Green and James Holmes. There is no reference to William's occupation. We have been unable to trace William Gosnold in London either before or after this event. We suspected that there could be a connection with William Henry Gosnold, who married Mary Martell at Westminster St Lukes on 1 June 1825 and died 1 April 1847, but have been unable to obtain evidence that the these Williams are the same and that William remarried. If you have any evidence which confirms this we would be very pleased have details. Our information on Mary Martell is in www.familysearch.org Ancestral File as born in Winterton Lincs, 10 May 1803 and died 9 June 1883 St George, Washington Utah. We don't have a marriage certificate; Westminster registers for that period are missing. Also, the Gosnold entries for Westminster 1851 census don't bear any direct relevance.
