OK, guys, I'm game. I'll be first. I've waited a long time to see some variant of this name appear in Genforum. I apologize, in advance, for infiltrating if this forum is strictly for the exact spelling of this surname.

Peter R. Godfretsen was born in Denmark around 1840. He was naturalized in Champaign County, Illinois in 1876. He married a Hannah Tomrodt who brought to the marriage a daughter; Sofa. Peter and Hannah had two sons. Otto born in 1874 and Albert born in 1876 in Illinois. The family then moved to Cherokee County, Kansas before moving to Rifle, Garfield County, Colorado.

I've never seen the name "Godfretsen" in anything that doesn't pertain to my immediate family. Have been told this must be a variant of the name listed as the subject of this forum.

Any help would be forever appreciated.
