I am wondering if the French brothers (17??) were part of the same clan as the Hessian Soldiers group that we are researching. The reason is that my family had always told me that we were French and fled religious persecution. Maybe it sounded better than saying we were mercenary soldiers??? Anyway, if you are still on the web and you check my first reply to Travis Goucher's initial inquiry that started all this chatter, you'll see that the three brothers were all skilled artisans [a silversmith, a goldsmith, and something else???] When my husband and I were in England a few years back, this information, in general, not particular, seemed to fit as many of the French that fled to England during that time were wonderful silversmiths. I have also, in blind Goucher wanderings, found quite a few in the Stratford - Nottingham area. Back to reality, there is no doubt that my branch is tied to Eileen's and more closely tied to Travis' than I originally thought. The question is, if we get back into England, do we tie back to the French connection? It would make a tidy little package wouldn't it? My husband and I are planning a trip to England in the next couple of months. We'll be staying near Birmingham with friends. So, if any of you, Eileen, Travis, Cheryl, have a firm tie from the USA to England that you want us to check out, we'll be glad to look up what we can while there. Cheryl, if you are near where we'll be and you want to chat, let me know. Lynda Goucher Vinson
