Hello, Ruth,
Just found your Gouge Query.I am researching the WHITAKER family of Cambridge and London, who inter-married with both the Gouges and the Culverwells.Don't know exactly what you have, but -
WILLIAM GOUGE, D.D., was son of Thos. Gouge and Eliz. Culverwell, dau. of Nicholas. He was born 1 Nov 1575 at Stratford LeBow, d. 12 Dec 1653.He was probably Rector of St. Ann Blackfriars, London. He m. (1) ll Feb 1604 Joane Taylor, and (2) by 1616 Elizabeth ______.The children I have are Mary, chr. 19 Feb 1614, and Wm., chr. 11 Dec 1622.I do not know whether Joane or Eliz. was Mary's mother.
Mary was said to have m. c. 1635 William WHITAKER.I am interested in this line - do you by any chance have any connections to Whitaker?
Hope this helps -Thanks -
