Arkansas Goughs 1865 to 1925
I'm new to genealogy and am just getting started.I would like any information that I could get about Goughs in the Fayetteville, Arkansas and Krebs Oklahoma area.
My father's name was John Leo Gough and he was born in 1905 in Krebs, Oklahoma. He Had a brother named Howard (who resided in Ozark, AR at the time of his death.)He also had one sister named Inez DeSmith who died in California.
Their Father was John Thomas(?) Gough, who died circa 1953 in Krebs.John Thomas had at least two brothers that I know of:James ("Jimmy") Gough who died sometime after John Thomas.I believe that he was also living in Krebs at the time of his death. There was another brother, Dennis who died at an early age -- approximately in his twenties or thirties.
They were of Irish descent. The Father of John Thomas, James, and Dennis was married to a Sarah Gough who is buried in the Henryetta, Oklahoma cemetery.Prior to moving to the Henryetta area Sarah and her husband had lived in the Fayetteville, Arkansas area.Sarah's husband (first name unknown) was a Union Veteran of the Civil War.If you have any information regarding any of these people please let me know.In the searches that I have done, I have turned up NOTHING.Thanks.John G. Gough
The Union Vet was a "master mechanic" who installed railroad roundhouses.and was probably murdered. His sons were coal miners in the Coal Hill, Arkansas area, and later moved to Krebs, Oklahoma, then to Coalgate, Oklahoma, then to the Coalton and Schulter area of Oklahoma.
