Thre are 75 GOULDEN surnames listed in NS phone book - www.canada411.com -
Of these, about 60% live in or near (½ hour drive) of Shelburne, NS on the Atlantic-facing South Shore. They tend to be Anglican (Church of England) and most arrived with the Loyalists in 1783/4 after the Rev War.
It's possible that GOLDING is a variant of this spelling in NS, but not likely.

Newport and Scotch Village are in HANTS County, NS, about ½ hour drive west of the capital Halifax.
