I found a possible ship record for the Goy family immigrating to Canada - film C-4530 in 1878 from the Canadian Archives. I obtained this on inter-library loan based on a reference guide on Canadian ship records. The ship was S.S. Sannatian, based in Quebec, arriving August 22, 1878 from a 32 day voyage with 300 people. I found a Kate Goy, "wife age 30" with William Goy at age 10 (matches William John Goy Sr. age at that time), John Goy age 4, Kate Goy age 3, and Minnie Goy age 2.Since the husband is not listed, I assume he was already in Canada and sent for his family later - especially since Kate is listed as wife and not widow. However, I don't have a record to show that William John Goy (who later married Louise Caroline Millen in Toronto, Canada 1888-9) had a mother named Kate.I also have no information about names of brothers or sisters. Is anyone able to verify this family group is related to William John Goy and Louise C. Millen?
I also found a William Goy, age 25 traveling alone to Canada on film C4524 in 1869.He lists his occupation as gentleman.
