There were a Corneilus Graybill and Robert C. Graybill (possible siblings?) that are listed as Privates in the Muster Roll of Company B, 7th Virginia Regiment, C.S.A. Calvalry, 1861-1865 [Source: "Virginia Valley Records", Wayland, pg. 296].
They may descend from either John or Henry Creybill/Crybiel who both acquired land on the North River of the Shenandoah in 1749 [Source: "Abstracts of Virginia's Northern Neck Warrants & Surveys, Orange & Augusta Counties, with Tithables, Delinquents, Petitioners, 1730-1754", Volume One, Peggy Smomo Joyner, pg. 22 & 23].
John Grabill also was listed in the Rockingham Militia Vouchers in 1788: Captain Richard Ragan's Company, No. 13, John Grabill, 1 tithable, 1 horse. [Source: Virginia Valley Records, Wayland, pg. 112].
The immigrant settler to Virginia may be a Wollrich Kreybiel who signed two Orange County Road Petitions in 1742/43 [Source: "Abstracts of Virginia's Northern Neck Warrants and Surveys, Orange & Augusta Counties, 1730-1754", Vol. 1, Peggy Shomo Joyner].
I'm just starting to research this family, but thought I'd pass along a few clues to help you concentrate your research, likely in Augusta and Rockingham Counties.
Best regards,
Jim
