Graffius, Christian, 1845 Pennsylvania
While checking my father's grave around Memorial Day, I happened to notice what appeared to be a military grave without the traditional marker or flag so out of curiosity, I managed to get a name off the weathered headstone. It apparently belongs to a Christian Graffius who was a Civil War veteran and served as a Private in Troop M of the 13th Pennsylvania Calvary. There is a listing in the 1890 Altoona Directory for a Christian Graffius (grocer) so I assume this is the same individual. He was born in 1845 and died in 1898 - his grave is located in the Carson Valley Cemetery near Duncansville, PA.
