Senator Phil Gramm's genealogy

Does anyone hapen to know anything about the family background or genealogy of Senator Phil Gramm of Texas? The information I have for him is he was born in Columbia, Georgia, son of an unnamed army seargant stationed in Fort Benning, on 7/8/1942. But his stated age consistently places him born in 1943. He attended the University of Georgia and got a PhD in economics there, but no alumni biographical data available, in 1967, then taught at Texas A and M University in College Station, Texas, for I think 12 years before running for Congress. He married another Ph D in economics, Dr. Wendy Lee, who is of Korean descent. He has a brother in law named George Caton.
