Hello Karen. I am a descendant of Oliver Peter Gram also. My great grandfather was Lee Roy Gram. His son, Causey Esco, was the brother of Estella, your grandmother. My father, Kenneth Oliver Gram (87 yrs.), remembers his Aunt "Stella" and Uncle Walter, and thinks that your mother was named Anna. My father lived in Eldorado, IL until 1926.

In reference to Anna Easterly Halterman's message, my father also remembers visiting Webb and Bess Gram every summer as a young child. Webb was the cousin of my grandfather, Causey Esco Gram, as well as the cousin of Anna Halterman's mother (what was her name, please?).

One addition, according to my records: Lee Roy's sister was Nancy Louella (Lou for short). Thomas J(ames?) and James Thomas were twins. I also have the names of the spouses and children of LeeRoy and his brothers and sisters.

Do you know the name of Oliver Peter Gram's wife? Phyllis Winchester told my father that it was Sophia Amelia. My father corresponded with Phyllis Ambrose and she thought it was either Sophia or Cynthia. (Sophia sounds more European to me.)

In reply to James T., we also had been told that our ancestor was a Danish ship captain who had left his small son in America and then been lost at sea on one of his voyages. It was a surprise to hear about Oliver Peter Gram going to Paris. Maybe he deserted his family to go to Paris, and the story about dying at sea was made up to save face and to ease his son's pain when his father did not return to America. My father remembers Ruth Gram, cousin of his father, Causey Esco, and Webb.

Well, this was very long, but I wanted to make all of the connections that I have found since looking at this site a few days ago. My father has a family tree book with a lot of Gram information in it. It was fun to find out that I have relatives who are also doing geneaology research. My maternal aunt traced her family (Galloway) to Joan Plantagenet, daughter of Edward I of England, and I always enjoyed helping her find more information. I hope to hear from any or all of y'all soon. Margie
