Hi Katy,
I have a list of the names of John Grammer and Elizabeth Abernathy Grammer's children:Someone shared this with me several years ago.
1. Martha C. Grammer
2. Pleasant Grammer
3. Peterson Grammer (married Martha Whinery)
4. Polly B. Grammer
5. Eliza Grammer
6. Martha Coleman Grammer
7. John Grammer, Jr. (our line)
8. William Grammer
9. Leonard Grammer
10. James Madison Grammer
11. Monroe Washington Grammer
12. Coleman Grammer (born 2/5/1820)The year could be 1825.
My hometown is Crockett, Texas in Houston County. (I live near San Antonio now)Houston County is adjacent to Anderson County.Cherokee County also joins Houston County and Anderson County.
I have often wondered what brought Peterson Henderson Grammer to Cherokee County, Texas in 1874. Coleman Grammer would have been an uncle to our Peterson Henderson Grammer. If Coleman came to Texas ca. 1840's and really liked that area of Texas, he could have certainly written back to Bedford County, Tennessee and said to his famiy"Hey, everyone come to Texas, it's great here"!Our Peterson was born in Bedford County, TN. in 1832.He was named after Coleman Grammer's brother, Peterson Grammer who married Martha Whinery.
My great great grandmother was Mary Ann Galloway and she married Sanders Vann from Georgia.Mary Ann was born in N.C. and lived her life in Twiggs County, Ga.She was 107 when she died.I know nothing about her Galloway Family.
If I can help you anymore on the Grammer family, let me know.
