I may have your James Grammer. James G. Grammer is my ancestor. I am trying to find his parents, etc. He was born btwn 1800-1810 in Tennessee. He moved to Alabama by 1840 (land records and marriage to Elizabeth Grizzle, listed as Grizer). They moved again to Mississippi.
I find the name McClung interesting as James had a son, Charles McCloud(sp?) Grammer. He is my gr-gr-gr-grandfather. I've always found his middle name of interest, thinking it must mean something. Maybe this is where it came from???
I'm currently looking into the Warren County, Tenn. area as there was a George Grizzle and Joseph Grammer in the same area, b/c James was born in TN (census records) and the strong connection to the Grizzle family (Grizzle family moved from TN>AL>MS along with my Grammer line). There was a David Grammer that also moved to AL (land records) beside James Grammer. Highly suspect they are related.
