Hi Ladonna. I was looking through Ancestry.com to see what comes up, and it occured to me to ask if you were looking for what happened to Pursie or if you are looking for his ancestors or both.

Here's some information I found. I'm not sure if you had this info too, but if not I hope it helps you get started.

I'm guessing you probably have the 1910 census for his dad (Listed as Allie Grammar in Civil District 13, Giles County TN) and the 1920 census for his dad (listed as Allie Grammer in Civil District 16, Giles County TN). For the 1900 census there is a Henry Garner listed in Civil District 21, Giles County, TN and several facts match up to make me seriously consider that this could be your Henry. Plus, the actual census looks like Gamer instead of Garner.

I'm not sure if there are two Pursie Grammer's, but there are two marriages listed in Giles County, TN for that name in the ancestry.com files. The first Pursie W. Grammer to Annie May Gilliam 24 Mar 1914. The second Pursie Grammer to Clarice Adams 24 Feb 1922. According to the 1910 census, the Gilliam family including Annie May were living right next door to the Grammer family. Then, in the 1920 census, Annie Mai Grammer is living back at home with her mom along with two kids, Holly Lee (son) and Ruby Mai (daughter). Pursie is not listed in the household.

Take care, Theresa
