That sounds about what I came up with.It is hard to
find Frances Marions exact age some say he was born in 1834.
If that is so then he was born before Elizabeth and James G married and his mother more than likely died at his birth.
If not he is there 1/2 brother.
William Calvin Grammer m Susan Rhyne #1 her brother Michael was married to Elizabeth Gillentine,he died in 1853 and she married Frances Marion Grammer. She was several years older than Frances M.
Michael and Susan's parents had died and she and a couple of her siblings were living with Michael at the time and are sometimes confused as being his children.
I would assume that is how Susan and William met.
William named some of his children after his family ( this how I see it )
one son was James Henry Grammer 1856 Ms d 1924 Ok
William Marion Grammer Grammer 1863 Ms d 1943 Tx
John T Grammer 1871 Ms
William Calvin M #2 Nancy Sabetha Salmon2nd familyArthur A Grammer 1884 1942 Ms
John Cleveland Grammer 1900 1959 Ms.
The only one I could find on 1850 census was Andrew Jackson
Grammer and his wife Mary in Alabama. All 3 lived in Mooresville in Itawamba co Ms.near each other .
Andrew Jackson died during the Civil War and his wife and family moved back to Alabama.
I have another Mystery: in 1900 census Frances Marion living in Booneville Prentiss co Msin his household was
Melissie Alexander listed as his niece and her four children
listed as grand nieces and nephews.
In 1910 census in Prentiss co Ms Frances M and in his
household listed
Melina ? and her children again as niece and etc.
she is now using the name Grammer.
Andrew Jackson Grammer had a daughter Melissa E Grammer
same age as this Melissa.
Melissa had a son James Riley Grammer that has always been confused with James Henry Grammer ( son of William C Grammer )
In 1900 census James Riley went by the name Rile Alexander.
1910 he was living and working for a family by the name of White near his mother and going by Riley Grammer.
Someone sent me a death notice that said herlast name was Boyd. However I can find no connection to Boyd anywhere.
I called funeral home in Ms and they had her one of her daughter's maiden name as Alexander
I still firmly believe that she is Andrew Jackson's
daughter and Marion F's niece and that all three Grammers are related
and that they had other brothers that went on down in Mississippi,I just can't prove it,
I have a lot of clues but no direct evidence that they are
connected but I do believe they are all brothersand that
James G is their father.Their mother, I don't have a clue.
Any help will be appreciated.
The Grammers are a mysterious bunch. The never talked about their past or present.
My aunt is soon to be 92 yrs old and she didn't know her grandfathers name.or anything else about them.
None of the 1st family would have anything to do with the 2nd family.I have recently met members of the 2nd family and find them to be very nice and happy to share information. They are as interested as I am.Norma
