Lynette,

If you look under the genforum under the surname James,
Melissa Emeline James posted by Susas Nass, she had some information about Francis Marion Grammer,Sr, who is your
g-g-grandfather and Elizabeth Gillentine as your g-g-grandmother.

Francis Marion Grammer,Sr stated in the 1900 census that his father was born in England.

My husband's grandfather was James Riley Grammer(b1890 MS),who was the son of Francis Marion Grammer,Sr and Melissa Emeline James. So, there would be a family tie with you and my husband (Keith Grammer) as far as the Grammer family goes with the grandfathers but, different grandmothers.

SOmething interesting about the 1900 census and the 1910 census, the children of Melissa James had the last name Alexander and the later their names were changed to Grammer. We were trying to find out if Keith's grandfather James Riley Grammer was adopted by Frances Marion Grammer,Sr. No one in our family ever said anything about James Riley Grammer being adopted. We are trying to figure out this puzzle.

Thought you were in the same family, you might have heard something about Francis Marion Sr's relationship or marriage to Melissa James. This is strange.

Vicki Grammer
