Hi,
I live in Boca Raton, FL.I can give you a little info to your information.
Granados means from Granada (Spain).Granada got its name from the fruit of the same name (pomegranate... in English). This city is famous because, at one time the Arabs conquered and ruled large parts of Spain, and they built a mighty castle called Alhambra which still stands. The castel has 4 gates through which you can enter and each one has a sculpture of a fruit above it.Its main entrance has the granada on it which is how the city later got its name.
As to the Granados's name I have heard one story.I was told that many of the Granados's were Jewish.During the Inquisition many Jews changed there names to pass as Christian. Some took the name of their city. Many of these fled to the new world to avoid prosicution for their religious beliefs.
When in the new world some kept their religion and others assimulated into Christianity (like my family did in Cuba).
Hope this helps.
Carlos
