Thanks for you post. You are right. It does seem difficult to determine if we are related. If we are, it would likely be prior to their moving to North America. The "first appearance" of the Grandles from which I come is in the Shenandoah Valley of VA in the late 1700's. Obviously, they were somewhere before that, which is why I have been looking at other possible spelling variations.
