Oops. I need to correct my answer to your question about Lot Gravel. I mistakenly gave information on his father, Alexis-Moise.

You asked if I knew why Alexander-Lot Gravel was in central America in 1905. I have no specific information on Lot's purpose or whereabouts in central America, but I will hazard a guess.

I suspect he may have been one of thousands of Americans in central America in that year who were constructing the Panama Canal. I'd suggest you focus your research there.
