Hi Sherry,
I'll respond to a couple of your questions on this Forum for the benefit of others, but it would difficult to get into all of the complexities of the Gravitt line in the space provided.
However, I would prefer to e-mail you directly if your 'prodigy' e-mail is still valid.
To your question about who Sally Page parents were, I have little, but (assuming there was no previous marriage for Sally) I show her father as (N) Page and her mother possibly (N) Mastin. Here was the logic I used to determine she was a Mastin.
Edward Mastin was uncle of Sarah Page m. George S. Gravitt 1804.Possibilities exist as:
. Since his surname was not Page, he would not have been a paternal uncle (brother of her father would also be a Page).
. If he was her mother's brother, her mother would have been a Mastin, married a Page.
. Therefore, assuming Sarah's uncle Edward Mastin, was not an uncle by marriage, and not a Page surname, he could only to be her mother's brother.
Do you have the names of Edward Mastin's female siblings born in the latter part of the 1700s?
I am finding their were two Gravitt (& var. spellings)in Kentucky, and so far, there are 3 of us trying to link them to a common progenitor. The Caty McCartie you mentioned is not a part of the Franklin Co. Gravitts, instead was in Clark Co./Winchester.
I will try to get something out to you today via e-mail.The Gravitts are an ongoing puzzle.Last Saturday I received copies of a 62 page portion of a book by a Sally Gravitt that I was able to obtain (at a cost!) from the Virginia Historical Society Library. It is titled "The Gravatts of the Rappahannock Valley" and I'm trying to wade through that.Hopefully, it will be productive.
