John and William Gray Frederick Co. Va. until abt. 1786?
Does anyone have any information about John (b. abt.1754) and William Gray who apparently lived in Frederick Co. Va until sometime before 1787 where they appear in Washington Co. Pa. and remain (in Greene Co. Pa) until Johns death around 1849.They were probably brothers and I am descended from *John. After his death a peice of land was sold by his widow Nancy and his children Washington and William (& Mary his wife) to William Hiett of Frederick Co. Va.the date of the sale was May 18, 1849.The exact date of Johns death is unknown, this sale was recorded in Greene Co., Pa. courts.Obviously I will also be able to locate it in Frederick co. courts when I go there in October. The size of this land was 116 acres.I beleive he was a probably a veteran of the Rev War.His sons names were *James, william, Washington, Eli,and perhaps Edward and John.Daughters are Nancy Jane and Minerva(who m. John Ward), and perhaps others. The land that was sold was neighbored by "Paul Taylor, James Hiett and others".Please note that there were two John Gray families in this 1787 census who remained in Washington/Greene Co. Pa area and that there is no relationship between them aside from knowing each other.
