Hi Donald, I read the response to your Texas Genealogy forum post by Joan E Rambo. She is correct in stating that your information is too sketchy and vague. There are many of us whose hobby is helping others with research. However, you have not given enough info. to attract most researchers. You gave a great deal of interesting info. but we need names and dates. You state that your information is verbal and not documented. Your earliest info is 1860, the birth of Chalmer John Gray in Dumbarton, Scotland. This far back in many families, the verbal data has been scrambled or muddled. There is a strong possibility that the 1861 census of Scotland is showing your John Gray as 5 months old, a son of William Gray age 33 and Grace Gray age 30 of Dumbarton in the county of Dumbartonshire, 190 High St. There is a sister Grace age 3 and a brother Eliger age 2. Registration 496, ED 4, Household 153, Line 1, Roll CSSCT1861_67
My Gray family came from Roxburgshire Scotland. Alexander Gray b 1736 Blainsle, Scotland, d 1791, Halifax, VA.
