Joe, I have corresponded with you before, but just wanted to check back in and see if you ever found out whether or not your James Gray (the one who died in Van Zandt Co., TX) was the James Gray who married Lucy Sledge, November 9, 1820.I am digging into all the Williamson Co., TN GRAYs, trying to find a parent for my Hugh W. Gray, born @1801 in TN.From DNA recently done, we have tied Hugh Gray to the Joseph Linn Gray who was born in 1795 in TN and died in Lawrence Co., AL.We have found out that Joseph Linn Gray served in the War of 1812 in 1814-1815 from the West Tennessee Militia, under a Capt. Sutton. We are trying to find out where in Tennessee Joseph Linn Gray joined this war.Following is info about the Tennessee Militia:
MAJOR WILLIAM WOODFOLK*
DESIGNATION:* Separate Battalion of West Tennessee Militia
DATES:* September 1814 - March/April 1815
MEN MOSTLY FROM:* Jackson, Wilson, Overton, Stewart, and
Williamson Counties
CAPTAINS:* Abraham Dudney, William McCulley, James C. Neill,
Abner Pearce, Ezekiel Bass, John Sutton, James Turner
Please keep me in mind if you find out about your James Gray.
