Sue my parents are from ano kastritsi & I have been back several times over the last 20 years & my mum's maiden name is panagopoulos her dad konstantinos lived in the usa @ the beginning of the century with his brothers & my great grandmother although she only stayed about 2 months before returning to kastritsi, but he returned back to the village where he married & stayed while his brothers if I remember correctly remained in the U.S. Yes I have heard of the rigas family as well. I cant wait to tell my parents about this. I do know that many men from Kastritsi went to the usa at the end of the 19th & beginning of the 20th century,some returned others died in the usa. I do know I have relatives from both my maternal grandparents & from my paternal grandmothers side somewhere in the usa & they all were from kastritsi. My parents were the first residents from kastritsi to emigrate to australia nearly 48 years ago. Anyway i am interested in hearing from you.
