Last year, I posted a request for anybody who knew of the history or destiny of my Grandfather, James William Greenslade born in Jersey in 1882 (tho' records show 1883). Since then I have traced the family back to Guernsey with Maindonal(d) and Brehaut ancestors dating back to the 13th century. However, I still have not found the fate of JWG. His father, James Greenslade (b. 1856) and grandfather, William (b.?) are both shown as being born in England. His mother, Mary Anne Margaret Brehaut, was born 1857 in Guernsey and died at the age of 33. We have established his immediate family born in Guernsey as: Sister, Phoebe, b.1884 (no further records can be found); Brother, Charles Henry, b.1885 (master builder on Guernsey); Brother, Thomas C., b.1887 (no further records); Brother, Harold John, b,1888 (died in childhood); Sister, Henrietta Jane, b.1889, (died in childhood); Brother, Henry, b.1893 (no further records). Mother, Mary Anne Margaret and children Henrietta and Harold are buried in St John's Church cemetery in Guernsey. We would like to trace any of the surviving members to close the chapter on my grandfather James William, or trace back the Greenslade line from Guernsey to England. The 1891 Census shows a family called Cowling, living in St Peter Port, Guernsey who took in young JWG after his mother died. We would like to trace their connection with the family.
