Hi, I am looking for information on the Greenslade side of my family, this is a last ditch attempt to get any information, I can, have been looking for about 4 years, but to no avail. I apologise if I have contacted you before, or if you receive this email more than once. Any information, however remote, will be of interest to me. Frank Greenslade (my Granddad) b. 26/12/1903 – although this is open to debate within the family – in Avon, Bristol, England. Died 15/02/1990 St. Andrews Hospital, Bromley. May have been known as Ernest/ernie/ern/francis/frank, but was known as Ernie or Ern to his children and wife. He married Florence Nelly Mary Greenslade in 1931. His father was born in, and was a prominent figure in his home town of Port Louis, Mauritius. He came to England after working on the ships, an occupation that my granddad continued from a very early age. It is thought that his name may have been Marana, and that he took the Greenslade name – hence my Granddads name – Greenslade. It is thought my Granddad had a sister – who died very young- and a brother, possible called Frank, who may also have died in his early years. I have obtained a birth cert for my Granddad but cannot prove 100% that it is him, as the DOB is October 1903; all the other info on it makes sense. It gives the mothers name as Amy Beatrice Greenslade, and living at 5a Chandos Road, Redland, Bristol in 1904. She was not married and the fathers name is not present! Cannot find anything on Amy. My Granddad had several children, some of whom died at birth, Rita, Brenda, Barrie, Michael, and Trevor, they all lived and were brought up in the East London area, around Custom House. If any of this, or part of this rings a bell with anyone, however tenuous, I would love to hear from you. If I can supply anything else to help, please let me know. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and my tree is open for you, if you wish to look. Regards Steve Waite Notify Administrator about this message?
