Sister Greenslade, O.P. Obit
ADRIAN — Sister Mary Christine Greenslade, formerly known as Esther Marie Greenslade, died on Dec. 10, 2007, at St. Joseph Residence. She was 90 years of age and in the 70th year of her religious profession: 66 years in the Dominican Sisters of Edmonds and four years in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.
Sister was born in Grandview, Wash., to Frank and Margaret (Lechman) Greenslade. Sister graduated from Lincoln High School in Seattle, Wash., and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Holy Names College in Spokane, Wash.
Sister Mary Christine spent 58 years ministering in education in Seattle, Bremerton, and Everett, Wash., and Miles City, Mont. She taught for 25 years in Montessori Schools in Seattle, including 11 years as Directress of Holy Spirit Montessori School. In 1998, Sister became a resident of Assumption Convent in Seattle, and in 2005 a resident of St. Joseph Residence in Seattle, Wash.
Sister Mary Christine is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Morton of Edmonds, Wash., and Eileen Strickland of Seattle, Wash.
A Vigil Service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at Assumption Convent in Seattle. The Funeral Liturgy will be offered at St. Joseph Residence in Seattle at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2007. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Seattle, Wash.
Memorial gifts may be made to Adrian Dominican Sisters, 1257 Siena Heights Drive, Adrian, MI 49221. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hoffner, Fisher & Harvey Funeral Home of Seattle, Wash.
